Latvia: Currency Peg And Italian Alps

Latvians are said to be fans of alpine skiing (NOTE! This is definitely contributing to (not so far ago extreme on global scale) negative current account deficit!)... Austria and Italy are beloved destinations (appear to be cheaper than France and Suisse), this was the place I was last time for downhill skiing - Madonna di Campiglio.

However, Latvians should look at Italian economy, at least to consider a probability of repeating the same mistakes? BNP Paribas one year ago, when the current global economic malaise was still assumed as a mere financial crisis wrote about "Italy: Some progress but not enough"

Today (actually yesterday) Edward Hugh wrote "Italy slips slowly but steadily into its worst recession in over 30 years". Oh, Lord, we have so many similarities ... Read the full missive, as there is smaller risk of domestic bias and "big swinging dicks" ... Sorry, I promised to write about those "swinging" already some time ago, I will very soon...

Italy is actually a country in euro-zone I cannot sleep well at night, I will post on this more soon too.

Demography
(and I insist on broadest meaning of it) seems so distant to our daily life, but that's making the BIG PICTURE ... Anecdotal, but I met an old friend of mine recently, we have not been talking a while ... As we, among others, discussed the future of our children, he expressed that he is fully prepared to accept the husband of his daughter of whatever race it may happen ...
